Pink Ribbons, Inc.
PINK RIBBONS, INC. is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Léa Pool, and produced and executive produced by Ravida Din for the National Film Board of Canada.
Pink ribbon is used for breast cancer awareness, the most common cancer occurring in women (except for non-melanoma skin cancer), and the second most common cause of death from cancer (after lung cancer).
We see them everywhere: on billboards, in magazines, on bus placards, in shopping malls, television and on many products.
But do they really make a difference in the fight against breast cancer?
Directed by Léa Pool and produced by Ravida Din, Pink Ribbons, Inc. is a new Canadian documentary, based on Dr. Samantha King’s 2008 book, that suggests brands use the pink ribbon to benefit through the association of the positive ideology of it and most of products are appropriate for promotion, and even may increase the risk for breast cancer.
