Dan Deacon’s “America”

Dan Deacon’s latest album displays his new awareness of civic obligation.

With his new record, “America” Dan Deacon, an electro-acoustic composer from Baltimore, has proved that the real-world environment can be fully expressed and precisely sculptured by electronic, some would say, artificial sounds.

Described as “layering dichotomies: light and dark, acoustic and synthetic, celebration and contemplation”, “America” was influenced by Deacon’s travel across the country and by seeing the landscapes of the United States in different seasons. The lyrics, as he explained, “are inspired by my frustration, fear and anger towards the country and world I live in and am a part of”.

The album, released by Domino Records, combines Deacon’s unique electronic sound with live musicians and instruments and it’s considered to be his most powerful piece of work to date.
